A very rare 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing has been sold for an impressive amount of 4.62 million USD at the Gooding & Company’s Scottsdale, Arizona auction.
The latest major auction to take place on U.S. soil, the Gooding & Company’s Scottsdale, Arizona, has gathered a lot of wealthy car collectors and the most interesting model to find a new owner was a 1955 made Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing. The classic sports car has been sold for $4.62m and this just one out of the 29 units made. The standard prices for the model can exceed a million dollars and even if this particular one was expected to be sold for 2.5m or even 3.0m, the final price has set a new record for the German sports car.
Besides the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing, another expensive model to be sold at the Arizona auction was a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider, which managed to find a new owner for 3.905.000 USD. The Gooding & Company’s auction managed to sell vehicles worth more than $39m. This isn’t the first time when we’re writing about this very rare classic car and another model made in the same year, which came as a special edition, was highlighted after being forgotten into a garage for 40 years.
