1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Special Edition forgotten into a garage image

A 1995 made Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Special Edition has been left into a garage for 40 years after its owner received it as a gift from his parents back in 1970 and one year later the transmission failed.

Tom Wellmer has received a very special graduation gift from his parents in 1970 in the form of a Special Edition Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing which was back then one of the best sports cars and today is definitely one of the most expensive, truly pieces of art that attract real collectors.

The story is kind of sad and Tom Wellmer has only used it for one year, until 1971, when the transmission failed. With the idea of fixing it later he took it to a garage and left it there. For 40 years. And the supercar remained there until 2011 when a sunshine sparkled through the garage doors.

A car restorer named Rudi Koniczek found the vehicle and convinced Tom Wellmer to sell it for approximately 2.5 million dollars but the identity of the new owner is not known. One thing is for sure though, the supercar will be fully restored in order to be brought closely to its initial state.
