A 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 has been sold for a whopping 3.85 million USD at the 2014 Barrett-Jackson auction.
One of the most expensive cars to be sold this year is definitely this 1967 Corvette L88, unhealthy which has managed to find itself a new owner, sales during the 2014 Barrett-Jackson auction, in Scottsdale. The new owner of this classic Corvette sports car has paid no less than 3.85 million USD before he could take his new ride home and add it to his garage. The auctioned vehicle was finished in red and its amount represents a new record, as the previous one has been sold last year for “just” 3.2 million USD.
The first L88 engine was offered on the Corvette in 1967. The unit was rated at 430 HP (320 kW) but the unofficial estimates say that the engine used to develop 560 HP (420 kW) or even more. Only 20 units of this vehicle have been produced and it wasn’t fitted with a radio or even with a heater. The sold model was finished in a bright red and it was restored by the renowned Navers Brothers of Houston. It’s fully documented and it was represented at the request of the owner by Roy Sinor, a recently retired National Corvette Restorers Society national judging chairman.
