After the launch of Golf6, Polo is coming to dealers next year (in May 2009 more exactly). Based on the same platform as Golf 6 (Golf Mk5 platform), Polo will receive a touch-screen navigation system, heated sets, and a parktronic with rear watch camera.

Following criticism of the downgraded interior trim quality of the Mk7( Polo 2005–2009 version – present version) in comparison to the Mk6 (Polo 2002–2005 version), Volkswagen had opted to overhaul the interior to match the quality that is on par with the Mk6 Polo while maintaining the same user friendliness from the Mk7.
Two three-cylinder engines will be available. A 59 hp and a 69 hp. A BlueMotion Polo will be also available from the summer of 2009 and will be powered by a 1.2-litre TDI diesel engine who will deliver 74 hp and 180Nm of torque (89g/km of CO2).

Three petrol engines will be available to power next gen Polo. A 1.4-liter TSI engine who will deliver 168 hp will power Polo GTI! On some models, a DSG gearbox will be also available.
