2011 Ford Shelby GT500 production limited to 5.500 units image

Ford announced today that the 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 would be limited to just 5,500 units.

Problem is that Jalopnik states: “Get to the dealer quick because they’re selling too fast; 3,300 units already sold.”

Along with the popular interior packages, the SVT Performance package has received a favorable 68% take-rate, making those 2011 Shelby GT500’s that much more track-ready. This package adds Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar G:2 tires that were specially designed for the 2011 GT500 wrapped around staggered 19” wheels in the front and 20” wheels out back. Next, the SVT Performance package adds steeper rear gears, stiffer springs and dampers, a lower stance and an adjustable rear spoiler.

The Shelby GT500 is powered by a 5.4-liter V8 engine and gets 15 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. The coupe version is priced from $49,495 to $57,532, and the convertible ranges from $54,495 to $60,500.
