2011 VW Jetta being investigated by the NHTSA image

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigation the 2011 Jetta and Jetta Sport Wagen TDIs after receiving several complaints because of a fuel line leak.

“The Office of Defects Investigation has received seven complaints alleging leaking from the fuel line the number 2 fuel injector in 2011 Volkswagen Jetta vehicles equipped with the 2.0 liter TDI common-rail diesel engines. The common-rail fuel system in the subject vehicles operates at extremely high fuel-injection pressure. The incident mileages range from 2.470 to 7.764 miles”, comments the NHTSA.

The preliminary investigation is still on and owners of the Jetta model may have to prepare for a trip to the dealer.

According to the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration no injuries or deaths have been reported in relation to the issue.

The VW Jetta S is powered by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine, developing 115 horsepower and its price starts at 16.495 US dollars. The mid-level Jetta SE is powered by a 2.5 liter engine with 170 HP and costs 18.195 dollars while the top of the line Jetta SEL is equipped with the same unit as the SE and its price starts at 21.395 dollars.
