After presenting earlier the “new” facelifted Punto, which will be officially revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, Abarth decided that the German event is a “must” and got its hands on the same model, playing with its exterior design and its performance.
The Abarth Punto SuperSport is based on the Punto Evo Esseesse, revealed at the 2010 Paris Auto Show, and it comes with a special matte black finish for the hood, roof and side mirror, while sitting on 18 inch alloy rims, covering the red calipers.
Abarth has added more comfort to the interior with black leather seats and steering wheel, highlighting them with red and yellow stitching. An Blue&Me TM Map satellite navigation system with a telemetric function is also available for the Punto SuperSport.
According to Abarth, the modified Punto is powered by the same 1.4 Multiair engine found in the Esseesse, which is now delivering 180 horsepower at 5.750 rpm and 199 lb-ft of torque at 2.500 rpm, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds, with a top speed of 134 mph.
Abarth has also modified the suspension and added perforated and self-ventilated disc brakes with four-piston calipers for the front and perforated rear disc brakes.
