The German based automaker BMW has finally revealed a part of the engine range for their 2012 model year 5-Series and if you are a future customer of the Bavarian vehicle you can find all the specifications for the new 520i / 525d / to help you chose the powerplant that suits you best.
One of the most efficient versions of the 5-Series is also using the “efficient” name and it’s coming as the 520d EfficientDynamics edition, and you are probably sick of the “efficient” word now so we better move on and talk about its specifications.
BMW says that the 520d EfficientDynamics Edition is powered by the new four-cylinder diesel engine which is delivering 184 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque (280 lb-ft) while burning just 4.5 liters of fuel (62.8 mpg) every 100 kilometers in an average cycle. The fuel emissions have been cut down to 119 grams of CO2 per kilometer.
According to the German automaker, this is the ten percent better consumption than the most fuel-efficient segment competitors, even if the 520d is more powerful. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration takes 8.2 seconds and its top speed is 231 km/h (143.5 mph).
Moving up in the line-up and we can find the 525d with its 218 HP and 450 Nm available for the new 5-Series sedan, along with the “classic” 520i and the 528i, all of them coming with the six-speed manual transmission as standard, while the eight-speed automatic with Steptronic is offered as an option.
