2012 Car of the Year nominees announced image

The 2012 nominees for the Car of the Year award have just been announced, like it’s usually happening during the European Paris or Frankfurt Motor Shows, by the organization with the same name, and 35 vehicles were selected from models that were launched in the last year or will be launched until the end of the year.

The 2012 nominees for the Car of the Year award have to be expected to be sold in at least 5.000 units all over Europe and to be available at the time of the competition in at least five countries. For the new edition, the finalists will be announced on January 9, 2012, while the winning car of the 2012 Car of the Year will be announced on the 5th of March, during the first days of the Geneva Motor Show.

As a reminder, the 2011 Car of the Year trophy was won by the Nissan Leaf EV, and for the current competition we find new electric vehicles in the 35 names, like the Fluence ZE and Kangoo ZE, coming from Renault-Nissan, and Opel’s Ampera.
