The Chevrolet Sonic Turbo has just went on sale and General Motors has announced its starting prices for the LT models, which have been set at 16, 835 USD for the sedan and 17,635 USD for the hatchback.
According to the North American based car manufacturer, the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic Turbo is powered by the brand’s 1.4 liter four-cylinder turbo engine, which is developing a total output of 138 horsepower and it has a peak torque of 148 lb-ft, which is quite enough for the 2,700-pound subcompact car. The Chevy Sonic Turbo’s estimated fuel economy ratings stand at 29/40 miles per gallon in city/highway, but with the automatic transmission, the fuel economy is improved (27/37 mpg).
“Traditionally, turbocharging was used to enhance the performance of engines, but today it is as much about fuel economy as a 0-to-60 time. The turbocharged provides high-pressure airflow for high torque to boost the vehicle and give the driver a fun driving experience with improved fuel efficiency”, said the assistant chief engineer for the 1.4L Ecotec engine, Bob Benedict.
Chevrolet says that the 2012 Sonic Turbo has a starting price of 16,835 USD for the sedan and 17,635 USD for the hatchback, while the LTS trims come at $18,625 and $19,325, not including the $795 destination charge.
