2012 Chevy Silverado gets WiFi for $399 image

The 2012 model year Silverado will benefit from some minor updates, starting from new paint colors and ending with a Chevrolet WiFi connection, powered by Autonet Mobile.

According to the automaker, the Z71 Appearance Package will only be available to trucks with the Z71 Suspension package, coming with fog lights, body-colored door handles, body-colored front bumper, a chrome grille with a body-colored surround, Z71 decals and door sills and 18 inch aluminum wheels, which is obviously not enough compared to the massive body. The Appearance Package is available for Silverado 2500 and 3500 models in LT, 1LT, LTZ and 1LZ trims.

The Silver Ice Metallic new paint color is also available for the 2012 Silverado and the 1500 can be equipped with the new White Diamond Edition package, coming for the 1LT and LT models with White Diamond Tricoat paint, chrome bodyside accents, chrome mirror housings and door handles, while the LTZ Silverado will also get 20 inch chrome wheels, the Chrome Package and a High-Performance Suspension package.

The Custom Sport Truck package is coming with the 5.3 liter V8, delivering 302 horsepower, which is also running on E85, along with chrome accents for the body and door handles, a locking tailgate, the Z82 towing package, powered driver’s seat, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, Bluetooth, dual-zone climate control, heated, chrome-covered mirrors and 20 inch chrome wheels.

Chevrolet will also fit all models of the Silverado with a new wireless internet add-on called Chevy WiFi, powered by Autonet Mobile, which is providing a wireless internet connection for laptops and mobile phones within a 150-foot radius of the truck. According to the automaker, owners will receive alerts when the Silverado deviates from a pre-set route and will be able to track the vehicle’s location. A content filter will also be available so the occupants of the car won’t be able to watch inappropriate websites. The Chevy WiFi will be available for only $399.
