The 2012 model of the Jeep Wrangler has just been announced by the Chrysler Group LLC, with a significant change: the 3.6 liter engine replacing the 3.8 liter Pentastar unit.
“Jeep Wrangler, the most capable and iconic vehicle in the world, has a new heart but retains the same soul for 2012. Our new 3.6 liter V6 engine gives the ever capable Wrangler a completely new, more refined on-road driving experience, complete with more fuel efficiency, power and torque”, said the president and CEO of the Jeep Brand within Chrysler Group LLC, Mike Manley.
According to the automaker, the 2012 Jeep Wrangler, powered by the 3.8 liter engine, is developing 289 horsepower and 352 Nm of torque (260 lb-ft), outperforming its predecessor by 84 HP and 31 Nm (23 lb-ft) and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in just 8.4 seconds thanks to the new V6 placed under the hood.
The future 2012 Jeep Wrangler owners will have to settle for the new engine and not so many visual upgrades, considering the fact that the iconic 4×4 received a facelift last year, so the new model will only get body-color hardtop and fender flares for the Sahara and Rubicon.
