The South Korean based automaker Kia has recently released more official images with the second generation of the Cee’d.
After the new generation of the Kia Cee’d has leaked several times on the internet early this year, the car manufacturer has decided to release, no too long ago, some official images with the model, and after that, the popular Korean hatchback is being placed into the spotlights one more time, ahead of its official debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March. As you can see from the images posted below, the second generation of the Kia Cee’d is wider, longer, closer to the road and it’s coming with some interesting design features.
“The dashboard layout features a cockpit-like design with an aircraft-themed, driver-orientated fascia. The main control panel wraps around the steering wheel, placing all switchgear within easy reach of the driver, and the main control groups such as audio and air-conditioning have been segregated to bring a more premium, luxurious, big car feel to the interior”, as Kia says in its official press release.
The Kia Cee’d is what closed the gap between the company and its C-segment European rivals, like the Opel Astra or the Volkswagen Golf, and now, when the new generation of the popular hatchback is almost here, the gap is closing even more. The upcoming Kia Cee’d is expected to receive the new 1.6 liter GDI turbo engine, which will be developing a total output of 201 horsepower, which will also be shared by the Hyundai Veloster Turbo, in order for the model to compete with the Golf GTI. The new Kia Cee’d will be launched at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and it will hit the European showrooms in mid-2012.
