The German aftermarket specialists at Carlsson have pulled the wraps off their latest creation, the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CGL 45 Royal Last Edition, which will only be available in China.
According to the tuning company, the new upgrade kit for the German crossover will only be available in China and the reason why this kit is only available in the Asian country is because a local car dealer named Zhongsheng Group Holdings Ltd has acquired 70% stake in Carlsson. The new upgrade package is based on the CGL45 program which was developed by Carlsson for the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class but it brings some parts made out of high quality PUR-Rim plastic.
The 2012 Mercedes-Benz CGL 45 Royal Last Edition is coming with wider wheel arches, a different chrome radiator grille with mesh inserts, LED daytime running lights and more, while under the hood, the luxurious German SUV modified by Carlsson is getting a 3.0 liter V6 engine which is developing a total output of 310 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque (698 Nm), compared to the standard 265 HP and 457 lb-ft of torque (618 Nm). An upgrade is also available for the 5.5 liter V8 unit, which can develop 435 HP and 442 lb-ft (598 Nm) of torque. No details on the price of these upgrades have been announced yet.
