Thanks to a promotional video, thumb that was more than likely leaked onto the web, the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK has been fully unveiled.
The compact two-door Benz will be available with the company’s neck-warming AirScarf system, adaptive headlights, a seven-speed automatic transmission and a Magic Sky Control roof that darkens at the touch of a button.
According to Autocar, the new SLK grows compared with the old car; it’s 31mm longer, at 4131mm, and 33mm wider, at 1808mm. It’s a little taller too, at 1304mm. Mercedes insiders say these modest increases have all been used to improve interior accommodation and boot space.
Talking about the engine options. the base SLK for 2012 will be the SLK 200 BlueEFFICIENCY with 184 hp and 270Nm available (€ 38,650 base price, 6.4 liters / 100),then the SLK 250 BlueEFFICIENCY with 204 hp (310Nm – € 44,200, 6.2 litres/100km) and the SLK 350 BlueEFFICIENCY with 306 PS (370 nm – € 52,200, 7.1 liters / 100km) to choose from.
The SLK’s public debut is scheduled for the Geneva motor show in spring 2011.
