Toyota Corolla tops competitive compact car segment with 24,804 units sold in April.

In 2011, before the natural disasters in Japan, the Toyota Corolla and the 2012 Honda Civic dominated the top two spots in the competitive compact car segment. In April, Corolla managed to return on top with sales of 24,804 units, followed by the Civic with 24,423 units sold.

On the third place is the Ford Focus with 19,425 vehicles sold, up 12.5% from April 2011, followed by the Chevy Cruze on the fourth place with 18,205 units sold in April, down 27.6% from last year. The Hyundai Elantra sold 16,836 units, down 23.8% from last year. The 6th and 7th places are occupied by the Volkswagen Jetta (13,754 units) and the 2012 Mazda3 (8,508 units).
