Volkswagen has decided to release a new commercial where its 2012 Passat model is being promoted for the Canadian auto market.
The German based automaker Volkswagen has recently launched a new commercial where the 2012 Passat is being promoted in Canada, but as expected, the vehicle is being placed into the spotlights in a unique way. As you can see from the video below, a husband is driving his pregnant wife to the hospital in the new Passat, and as soon as he is reaching his destination, he is attracted into a conversation about the car’s details, ignoring his pregnant wife and her crying.
“I don’t know if they used the word sexist but the gist of the complaint was that we weren’t very fair to the pain and suffering that goes along with childbirth. Upon second thought we thought, holy cow, that certainly wasn’t the intent, but if anybody construes that way, we should pull it”, said Thomas Tetzlaff, the Volkswagen Canada spokesman.
As a reminder, the 2012 Volkswagen Passat is offered in three trim levels, the S, the SE and the SEL, where the entry-level version is powered by a 2.5 liter five-cylinder engine, developing a total output of 170 horsepower and a peak torque of 177 lb-ft, mated to the standard five-speed manual transmission, with an optional six-speed automatic available. The top-of-the-line version is powered by a 3.6 liter VR6 unit, developing 280 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed DSG transmission. Prices for the 2012 VW Passat start at 19.995 USD.
