2013 Aston Martin Rapide S officially unveiled

The 2013 Aston Martin Rapide S has been officially unveiled by the British based automaker and the model is bringing a significant power increase.

The newest model in Aston Martin’s lineup, the Rapide S, doesn’t have any significant changes in terms of design but we can easily spot the updated rear lip spoiler or the new front grille. Future owners of the model will be able to get the optional Carbon Exterior Package which is also adding features like the carbon fiber front splitter, exterior mirror housings, rear diffuser and more. The cabin of the model hasn’t been left aside either and this is now getting the optional red & black Duotone leather upholstery, the piano black trim, a twin-screen rear seat entertainment system, a rearview camera and more.

The most significant upgrade applied onto the 2013 Aston Martin Rapide S is found under its hood where the 5.9 liter V12 engine is now producing a total output of 558 HP (410 kW), which means an 81 HP (59 kW) increase over the pre-facelift version. The torque figure has also went up to 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) from 600 Nm (442 lb-ft).

Thanks to these changes, the Aston Martin Rapide can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.9 seconds, 0.3 seconds faster than before, while the top speed has also increased from 188 mph (302.5 km/h) to 190 mph (305.7 km/h). Fuel consumption now stands at 14.1 L / 100 km (16.5 mpg US / 19.9 mpg UK) and the CO2 have been dropped from 355 g/km to 332 g/km. No pricing details have been announced yet but rumors are saying that the updated Rapide S will start at 150,000 GBP. The model will go on sale in February.
