BMW is planning to offer the first ever hybrid variant of the 3-Series, the ActiveHybrid 3, for a starting price of $49, 300 in the United States.
The BMW ActiveHybrid 3 makes it into our news once again and after the model has been officially revealed not that long ago, we now know how much the vehicle will cost over-seas. According to the German based automaker, the 2013 BMW ActiveHybrid 3 will be available starting from 49,300 USD in the United States, excluding the $895 destination and handling.
The new version of the BMW 3-Series, the ActiveHybrid 3, can do some breathtaking things, like offer a good 0 to 100 km/h acceleration and take its time with the CO2 and fuel consumption figures. The BMW ActiveHybrid 3 is powered by the famous 3.0 liter inline six-cylinder petrol engine, developing 306 HP on the 335i version, mated to a 55 HP electric motor and a lithium-ion battery placed under the trunk.
BMW says that with the hybrid power train, which is developing a total output of 340 horsepower, the ActiveHybrid 3 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds, before reaching its electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. The BMW ActiveHybrid 3 is burning an average of 5.9 liters of fuel every 100 km and it can travel on full electric range at speeds up to 35 km/h for about 4 km.
