2013 BMW M3 F80 renders image

The new generation of the BMW 3-Series is finally here after many months of teasing and guessing its specifications but all fanatics are now waiting for the most interesting version of it, the M3, and even if the most powerful 3-Series won’t be launched until next year, we now have another clue of how the vehicle will look like with all its colors.

Thanks to the bimmerpost.com we can see how the new generation of the BMW M3 will look like in Melborne Red, Singapore Grey, Black Sapphire, Carbon Black, Havana and Estoril Blue II, even if the German based automaker is hiding it from our eyes.

There’s no official word on the new BMW M3’s engine but rumors say that it might be powered by a V6 turbocharged engine. Apparently we shouldn’t be surprised if the new M3 will come with the same engine as his bigger brother the M5, in the form of the 4.4 liter V8.

As a reminder, the new generation of the BMW M5 takes its power from a 4.4 liter V8 which is developing 560 horsepower between 5.000 and 6.000 rpm, with a peak torque of 502 lb-ft available from 1.500 rom, mated to the seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission Drivelogic with steering wheel mounted paddle shifter. The new M5 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds.

Even if the engine from the M5 might be a real choice for BMW’s engineers, the new generation of the M3 will most likely be equipped with the V6 turbocharged unit, but its maximum power may be around 450 HP, which is not necessarily a bad thing because the car is expected to be lighter than the previous generation.

The new BMW M3 F80 is most likely to be launched in mid-2013 and the vehicle might actually be officially presented during an international auto show sometimes next year, probably the Geneva event, in March.

The first BMW M3 (E30) was originally introduced back in 1986 as a street legal version of the DTM vehicle and it was followed by the E36 in 1992, which remained in production for 8 years, until 2000, when the E46 rolled off the production line. The F80 M3 will replace the E90/E92/E93 (Sedan / Coupe / Cabrio) which is being made since 2008.
