The American based automotive giant General Motors has announced that Chevrolet will not make a coupe of the Malibu, after the vice president of global design Ed Welburn showed journalists a rendering of a two-door version of the vehicle.
“A Malibu coupe could be a pretty nice car but it is not in the plan right now”, said Welburn after being asked several details about the Malibu Coupe.
The image shown by Ed Welburn was a sketch made by an artist showing a two-door version of the Chevrolet Malibu but the General Motors production lines apparently won’t see the new model which could be more then welcomed into Chevy’s lineup.
The new generation of the Chevrolet Malibu sedan, 2013 model year, is expected to hit the showrooms early next year, and sadly the two-door version may never see daylight.
The Chevrolet Malibu was originally made as a trim-level of the Chevelle and it was offered with rear-wheel drive, but in 1997, General Motors has revived the Malibu and made it a front-wheel drive car.
