General Motors has just revealed its 2013 Chevrolet Sonic RS turbocharged ahead of its official debut at the Detroit Motor Show, next month.
According to the North American based carmaker, the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic (Aveo) is powered by a 1.4 liter turbocharged engine which is developing a total output of 138 horsepower and has a peak torque of 200 Nm (148 lb-ft). Even if the car manufacturer has revealed its 2013 Chevy Sonic in the turbocharged version ahead of its official debut, GM didn’t say anything about the vehicle’s performance, fuel consumption, trim levels or price.
“The new Chevrolet Sonic RS pushes Chevrolet’s performance heritage in a new direction, for a new generation of drivers. It takes the Sonic’s great design and latest connectivity features and combines them with a more performance-oriented look and feel”, said the vice president of Global Chevrolet Marketing, Chris Perry.
Chevrolet says that besides the engine upgrade, the 2013 Sonic RS is coming with several exterior updates in order to keep its aggression. As you can see from the images below, the Sonic RS is coming with redesigned fog lights, the RS specific grille, new rear spoiler and 17 inch wheels with the RS badging. The model comes with a choice of four exterior colors, Victory Red, Summit White, Cyber Gray Metallic and Black Granite Metallic and in the cabin the Sonic RS has a sports steering wheel, racing inspired flat-bottom design, sports seats and aluminum sports pedals. The model will go on sale in late 2012.
