The IIHS has recently named the new Dodge Dart a Top Safety Pick thanks to its more than 60 safety and security features, including the 10 standard airbags.
The first model produced by Fiat S.p.A. and Chrysler Group LLC, the new Dodge Dart, has been recently named a 2012 Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), thanks to its safety and security features along with its 10 standard airbags. The new Dodge Dart has achieved a “good” score in tests simulating rollover, side, rear and moderate overlap frontal impacts.
“We had high expectations for the Dart and our engineers delivered. Since its launch, the 2013 Dodge Dart has been consistently outperformed in the area of fuel efficiency, technology, value for the money and now safety. It is truly a groundbreaking new car”, said the Dodge brand president and CEO of U.S. sales, Reid Bigland.
As a small reminder, the 2013 Dodge Dart is the company’s attempt to get back into the compact car segment and go against models like the Chevrolet Cruze or the Ford Focus. The model has a starting price of 15,995 USD for the entry-level SE version, while the top of the line R/T will cost 22,495 USD. The cheapest version is getting the 2.0 liter 16-valve Tigershark I-4 engine, which is developing a total output of 160 HP and 148 lb-ft of torque. The unit can be mated to either a six-speed automatic transmission, as an option or a six-speed manual as standard.
