Ford’s 2013 Fusion Hybrid received the inaugural Canadian Green Car Award.
The award is offered by a panel of expert members of the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada, and this is the second time the AJAC offers an award to Ford’s Fusion Hybrid, which was also named the Best New Family Car, under $30,000, last year at the TestFest. Other Ford vehicles which got wards at the event where the Escape 1.6L EcoBoost, as the Best New SUV/ CUV under $35,000, the Focus ST, as Best New Sports/Performance Car under $50,000 and the Focus EV, as Best New City Car.
“We are extremely proud that the 2013 Ford Fusion hybrid has been honoured by our country’s top automotive journalists as the recipient of the inaugural Canadian Green Car Award,” said Steve Ross, Ford of Canada’s product marketing manager, sustainability and electrification.
The other four finalists which got the Canadian Green Card Award were the VW Turbocharged Hybrid Jetta, the Mazda3, the Hyundai Sonata hybrid and the Ford C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid. AJAC said that this competition emphasizes fuel economy and emissions, but also the use of naturally sourced or recycled materials, as part of the automakers’ green operations.
