The North American based automaker Ford has recently announced that the 2013 Shelby GT500 will hit the market with a 662HP V8 engine.
According to the car manufacturer, the new Ford Shelby GT500, which is wearing the 2013 model year in its name, will get the “most powerful series production V8 in the world”, and the unit will develop a total output of 662 horsepower. The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 will be taking its power from a 5.8 liter V8 unit, which will have 631 lb-ft of torque (855 Nm) and the output mentioned above, being also able to return an average 15 / 24 mpg in city / highway.
“Our goal is to create outstanding all-around performance cars, not just stoplight-to-stoplight sprinters,” said Jamal Hameedi, SVT chief engineer. “We’ve backed up this amazing powerplant with a more refined chassis tuning that helps keep the rubber on the pavement without punishing the driver’s spine and six-pot Brembo brakes that dissipate speed with ease stop after stop.”
The all-new 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 will be manufactured at the AutoAlliance International Plant in Flat Rock, Mich and more details about the muscle car, including its price tag, will be announced later on this year.
