The new generation of the Ford Transit utility van has been officially revealed it’s coming with a new engine developed by PSA, along with an EcoBoost for the over-seas auto market.
The Ford Transit is probably one of the most know vehicles in its segment worldwide and even if we didn’t drive one, we most likely have seen one and we probably keep seeing one almost every day. But this news isn’t about the outgoing version or about the previous variants of the Ford Transit and we are actually talking about the new generation of the utility van, which is wearing the 2013 model year in its name.
According to the North American based automaker, the new generation of the Ford Transit is replacing the 2.4 liter engine with a new 2.2 liter diesel, which is produced by PSA and can also be found on the S-Max or on the Mondeo. The new Transit Connect will get a 1.6 liter TDCi diesel engine under its hood in two outputs, 90 HP and 110 HP, along with a 1.0 liter EcoBoost. The regular Transit model for the United States will get a 3.5 liter V6 EcoBoost with a six-speed automatic transmission under its hood.
