Kia has released new details and images with the revised Sorento model, which will arrive at the company’s dealerships starting this month (October, 2012).
The South Korean based automaker Kia says that the new Sorento is getting a new platform and a more rigid body shell with new front side and rear structures which can disperse the impact energy. The new Sorento is still 4,685 mm long and 1,885 mm wide, but it is also 10 mm lower than the outgoing model at 1,700 mm. The SUV is now being offered with 18-inch alloy wheels and Kia says that the model needs 2.6 meters less than its predecessor to stop from 100 km/h (62 mph).
Prices for the 2013 Kia Soreno in the United Kingdom start at 26,495 GBP for the base version of the model equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and they can go up to 35,095 GBP for the top of the line six-speed automatic transmission. All versions of the new Kia Sorento come with seven seats and are powered by a 2.2 liter CRDi diesel engine, which is producing a total output of 194 BHP at 3,800 rpm and 422 Nm of torque available from just 1,800 rpm. The model can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 9.4 seconds with the manual transmission and in 9.5 second with the automatic, before reaching its 118 mph top speed.
