Mazda is planning to develop a coupe version of the new Mazda6 generation but the model might not get the green light for production.
After the new generation of the Mazda6 sedan has been officially presented to the public in a world premiere during the 2012 Moscow Motor Show, the model is entering our news once more, this time with a rumor which is saying that the company might plan a coupe version of the model.
“There is no decision, but I would love to make one. The first job is to take the saloon and estate, but from this position a coupe is not so far away”, said the company’s chief designer Akira Tamatani.
Besides the coupe version of the Mazda6, the Japanese based automaker is also considering an all-wheel drive system for the model, which will take the vehicle closer to its main rivals on the Old Continent.
“There are no plans, but we are studying the possibility of introduction all-wheel drive – it would be a good weapon with which to establish the brand”, said the Mazda program manager Hiroshi Kajiyama.
Unfortunately more details on the Mazda’s new all-wheel drive system or on the Mazda6 Coupe are limited for the moment but we will keep you updated once more info is known.
