McLaren has recently announced that the updated MP4-12C supercar will be officially presented to the public at the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
One of the most important automotive events in Britain, the Goodwood Festival of Speed, will be the place where the updated and more powerful McLaren MP4-12C will make its official debut. According to the British based automaker, the updated 2013 McLaren MP4-12C will be driven up the hill by Jenson Button, the famous Formula One world champion.
“Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver Jenson Button will take to the famous Goodwood Hill in a Production Prototype version of the revised 12C on Saturday 30 June. In addition, McLaren GT will unveil a McLaren 12C GT3 race car adorned with a unique livery, which highlights McLaren Group’s support of the ‘GREAT’ campaign launched this year by the Prime Minister’s Office and Department for Culture, Media and Sport”, as the automaker is saying in its official press release.
The updated McLaren MP4-12C will be powered by an improved 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which will generate a total output of 616 horsepower, 25 HP more than the standard version. The unit will be mated to a recalibrated seven-speed SSG transmission which is promising better responsiveness. The 2013 McLaren MP4-12C will go on sale across Europe in October and it will have a starting price of 176,000 GBP, 7,500 GBP more than the current version.
