2013 Mercedes-Benz SL launched in the UK – starts at GBP72,495 image

The German based automaker Mercedes-Benz has recently announced that the new SL generation has been launched in the United Kingdom, where the cheapest version can be bought from 72, 495 pounds.

According to the car manufacturer, the Mercedes-Benz SL350 is being offered as the entry-level, for 72,495 GBP, while the SL500, with its V8 engine, costs 83,445 pounds. Mercedes-Benz says that the AMG versions of the SL, the SL63 and the ultimate SL65 will follow the rest of the lineup to the United Kingdom, later on this year.

The Mercedes-Benz SL350 is powered by a 3.5 liter BlueDIRECT V6 engine, which is developing a total output of 206 horsepower and it has a peak torque of 370 Nm. The model in question is 140 kg lighter than its predecessor and it’s averaging 37.7 mpg. Next in the lineup we can find the more powerful SL500, which is powered by a BlueDIRECT V8 engine, putting down 437 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. The 1.7 ton roadster can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds, before reaching a limited top speed of 155 mph.

Some of the features found on the new generation of the Mercedes-Benz SL in the UK include the standard Attention Assist, Pre-safe, Active Bonnet, bi-xenon headlamps, Intelligent Light System, Magic Vision Control heated adaptive wiper system, sports seats trimmed in leather, COMAND Online with Media Interface and a set of 18-inch light-alloy wheels.
