The finalists for the 2013 North American Car and Truck of the Year awards have been recently announced over-seas.
After the full list of the 2013 North American Car and Truck of the Year has been announced back in July and with the semifinalists made “public” in October, the jury of the most prestigious car award in the United States has now announced the finalists, which managed to beat out a lot of brand new model which, on the Old Continent, have even won the Car of the Year in some markets.
On the car side, the contenders are the 2013 Cadillac ATS, the 2013 Ford Fusion and the 2013 Honda Accord. The choices aren’t a surprise for the audience over-seas because they are highly appreciated on their market but what comes as a big surprise is that their competitors, the BMW 3-Series F30, the new Toyota Avalon or the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ are not found on the finalists list.
The truck/utility candidates are also surprising us because while models like the BMW X1, the new Ford Escape or the Infiniti JX are not found on the list anymore, here we can see the Ram 1500, the Ford C-Max (MPV) or the Mazda CX-5. The winners of the 2013 North American Car and Truck of the Year will be announced in January, 2013, during the Detroit Motor Show (NAIAS).
