The new generation of the Opel Astra Cabrio has been recently spied on the famous German track, the Nurburgring, where it was being tested.
After announcing that the new generation of the Opel Astra Cabrio will be officially presented to the public during the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the model is being placed into the spotlights once more, this time by a new video which is revealing the model while it is being tested on the Nurburgring. According to worldcarfans.com, the providers of this video, the 2013 Opel Astra Cabrio in question is the prototype version of the model, which is undergoing some final tests, until it will debut in Paris next month.
The 2013 Opel Astra Cabrio is now getting a less expensive soft-top, unlike the outgoing version which has a hard-top, and this might be an attempt for the carmaker to keep production costs low, which will eventually translate into a lower price of the final product, the Astra drop-top in this case. Engine options are expected to be carried over from the hatchback and from the sedan, and the units will range from 100 HP to 180 HP for the gasoline ones and from 95 HP to 130 HP for the diesels. The new Opel Astra Cabrio will be produced in Gliwice, Poland, and the first units of the model will arrive in dealerships next year.
