Porsche Ag., plans to unveil the new Cayenne GTS SUV at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, also known as Auto China, on April 24, 2012. However, we already have the first information and images showing the new SUV.
Beneath the bonnet of the Cayenne GTS lies an uprated 4.8-litre V8 engine, with 309kW (420 hp – 20 more compared to the old model), based on the Cayenne S power unit.
Unlike the previous Cayenne GTS, which was fitted with a manual transmission, the new model comes with an eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission and engine stop-start system. All-wheel drive is still standard.
Porsche say the Cayenne GTS is ‘Sitting like in an SUV, driving like in a sports car’, and they’re not wrong.
It will hit 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, reaching 160 km/h in 13.3 seconds – top speed is set at 261 km/h and the combined fuel consumption 10.7 liters per 100 kilometers.
The specially tuned chassis ensures thrilling driving dynamics. It is more tautly tuned, equipped with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and lowers the body by 24 mm relative to the Cayenne S. As a result, the new Cayenne GTS is even closer to the road and moves with the sports car’s trademark composure and agility.
Pricing is set at $83,025 including destination; 90,774 euro in Germany. Will hit the market this July.
