According to autoblog.com, the German based automaker Volkswagen has confirmed that the 2013 Beetle TDI will make its public debut at the Chicago Auto Show, which will officially open its gates in February. Even if the car manufacturer has confirmed to autoblog.com that the refreshed Volkswagen Beetle wearing the 2013 model year on it will debut at the Chicago Auto Show next month, the automaker didn’t announce any official details about the vehicle.
The guys at autoblog.com are also saying that the company’s 2.0 liter turbo diesel engine is most likely to be found under the hood of the 2013 Volkswagen Beetle, but even if there’s no official word on the unit’s total output, we know that in the Golf, the Jetta and the Passat, this one is developing a total output of 140 horsepower and it has a peak torque of 236 lb-ft. The engine is available with both the six-speed manual transmission and the DSG, and in the Passat, the unit is returning 43 mpg on the highway, while the Jetta TDI does 50 mpg with the same engine.
