2013 Volkswagen Beetle was launched in Australia image

The German based automaker Volkswagen has recently announced the arrival of the new Beetle in Australia, where the model can be yours starting from 29,990 AUD.

According to the car manufacturer, the new VW Beetle was launched in Australia exactly 60 years after the original car has arrived in the country, back in 1953. The model in question is 4,278 mm long, 1,808 mm wide, 1,477 mm tall and it’s riding on a wheelbase of 2,524 mm, being 149 mm longer, 87 mm wider and 21 mm lower than the previous generation of the Beetle. The new VW Beetle is sharing the PQ35 platform with the Golf 6 and with other models made by the VW Group.

Power to the new Beetle in Australia is being provided by a 1.4 liter four-cylinder twin-charged petrol engine, which is producing a total output of 118 kW and it has a peak torque of 240 Nm. The unit is mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission or to an optional seven-speed DSG dual clutch automatic. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration takes 8.3 seconds in both versions. Fuel consumption stands at 6.4 L / 100 km. Prices for the new Beetle in Australia start at 29,990 AUD and they go up to 32,420 AUD.
