Audi has recently announced that the new generation of the A3 Sportback won’t be launched in the United States and the model will go on sale on the Old Continent in early 2013.
After it was officially revealed just a few days ago, ahead of its public debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show on the 27th of September, the Audi A3 Sportback is entering our news once again, this time in a way which will probably upset Americans. Audi has announced that the 2014 A3 Sportback won’t be launched in the United States. The carmaker didn’t provide a reason for this action yet.
“We’re not bringing the A3 Sportback to the U.S.”, said an Audi of America spokesman named Andrew Lipman, in an e-mail response for Edmunds.
The new generation of the Audi A3 Sportback is offered, on the Old Continent, at first, with one TDI and two TFSI engines, but more units will become available later on. Audi says that the new A3 Sportback will get the 1.6 TDI, the 2.0 TDI with 320 Nm, the 2.0 TDI with 184 HP and 380 Nm, the 1.2 TFSI with 105 HP and 175 Nm, a 1.4 TFSI with 122 HP and 200 Nm, a 1.4 TFSI with 140 HP and 250 Nm and a 1.8 TFSI with 180 HP and 250 Nm.
