The German based automaker Audi is planning to introduce an upgraded version of the A4 later on this year, which is expected to become more stylish and lighter than the outgoing model.
According to the guys at Auto Bild, the 2014 Audi A4 will get a more luxurious interior design and an advanced MMI infotainment system, amongst others, and the model will also become lighter, after the engineers have managed to shave 50 kg (110 lbs) from its body by using plastic components, magnesium and aluminum. The total weight of the popular vehicle is expected to drop by 100 kg (220 lbs).
Our source is also saying that future owners of the 2014 Audi A4 will be able to order the model with a choice of the 1.4 liter TSI engine, producing 150 HP (110 kW) and 250 Nm of torque (184 lb-ft), a 2.0 liter TFSI with 177 HP (130 kW) and 225 HP (165 kW), a 2.0 liter TDI with 122 HP (90 kW), 136 HP (100 kW), 150 HP (110 kW) and 190 HP (140 kW) and a large 3.0 liter V6 TDI, with 218 HP (160 kW) and 272 HP (200 kW). A plug-in hybrid version of the model is also expected to make its way onto the market, with two electric motors, one on each axle, and a 2.0 liter TFSI petrol burner, mated to a 12 kWh lithium-ion battery.
