Audi is planning to drastically improve the 2014 A4 and the model should be lighter and more stylish than the current version.
Audi is losing ground these days on its A4 because customers are moving to the BMW 3-Series and to the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, but the company will soon put a stop to this because it’s working on an upgraded version of the model. Rumors are saying that the 2014 Audi A4 will be 50 kg (110 lbs) lighter on its body than the current version, thanks to the use of magnesium, aluminum and plastic components and the total weight might stand at 100 kg (220 lbs) less.
The Audi A4, in its new generation, is also expected to gain a plug-in hybrid version, which will be equipped with a 2.0 liter TFSI petrol engine, two electric motors, one on each axle and a 12 kWh lithium-ion battery, which will allow the model a 50 km (31 miles) range in electric mode. Besides this, the 2014 Audi A4 will also get the 1.4L TSI with 150 HP and 250 Nm of torque, the 2.0L TFSI with 177 HP and with 225 HP, the 2.0L TDI with 122 HP, 136 HP, 150 HP and 190 HP and the 3.0L TDI with 218 HP and 272 HP.
