The production-ready version of the Ford Escort, aimed exclusively for the Chinese automotive market, has been officially unveiled during the 2014 Beijing Motor Show.
Ford has just pulled the wraps off the production-ready Escort, designed specifically for the Chinese market, at the local automotive event. The model in question is clearly based on the concept car unveiled last year and we are very confident in saying that because it’s very hard to spot the differences between the two models.
“The Ford Escort is a perfect example of how Ford’s global approach can be fine-tuned to meet the needs of individual markets by listening to customer feedback. Taking Ford’s hugely successful C-car platform as a foundation, the all-new Ford Escort puts us in a perfect position to serve Chinese customers looking for an alternative and attainable compact car”, said Changan Ford Automobile president, Marin Burela.
The new vehicle has been designed in Australia and it seems to be inspired by the Fiesta, by the Focus and by the Mondeo (Fusion), coming with the already familiar Aston Martin-like front grille. The cabin of the model has a Device Dock fitted onto the center console which is offering support for charging and mounting several electronic devices, it has the Connect Radio, an infotainment system or Bluetooth. Power to the new Ford Escort is being provided by a 1.5 liter four-cylinder Ti-VCT gasoline burner, but no specifications on it have been announced yet. More details on the model will probably be made public close to its official launch.
