The new generation of the BMW M3 will be lighter and more powerful than the outgoing model and it should debut as a concept in Geneva next year.
The German based automaker BMW is currently working on the new generation of the BMW M3, the so-called F80, which will drop some weight compared to its predecessor. The all-new BMW M3 F80 will weight round 300 lbs (136 kg) less than the version it’s replacing and, besides this, the model will get a turbocharged six-cylinder engine with less than 450 horsepower under its hood. The original rumors were saying that the new M3 will get more power but we don’t actually know for sure until the company will present it.
The 2014 BMW M3 F80 is getting a six-cylinder engine under its hood, with multiple turbochargers, which is expected to get a total output of approximately 450 HP. This is possible to be just a reworked version of the N55, which is now getting a strengthened aluminum block and modified cylinder heads. A Performance Package is expected to be offered on the new BMW M3 generation, which should bring the total output over 470 HP and enable it to achieve a top speed of 300 km. The new BMW M3 will be officially presented to the public as a concept during the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
