The 2014 BMW X5 has been codenamed the F15 and the model is being placed into the spotlights once again, after being spied a few times, with the help of a rendering posted by Car Scoop. The image is based on recent spy shots of the model and it might provide a first look into the final production version of the popular SUV. The current generation of the BMW X5 will end its production in July in order to make room for the new model.
The BMW X5 F15 is expected to use a twin turbocharged V8 gasoline engine, along with the 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel used on the 3-Series F30 and with other diesel and petrol units. The new generation of the BMW X5 will rider on a new architecture known as “X for All” in-house which will also be used on future X models. This will help the SUV save approximately 150 kg in its total weight. Besides the BMW X5, the carmaker is also working on the X7, which will rival the GL-Class made by Mercedes-Benz and it will come with seven seats.
