General Motors, the largest automaker in the U.S. unveiled today, during a private event its redesigned 2014 Cadillac Escalade SUV. The vehicle is due to hit the market in spring 2014.
Details of GM’s next SUV remain confidential for now, but according to an audio feed, the 2014 Escalade will larger inside but on the same time will keep its proportions outside.
“There’s more space inside, making it larger inside but not making it bigger outside,” said Bob Ferguson, vice president of global Cadillac.
Escalade was always a star in the elite class of large luxury SUVs and as expected the company plans to keep it in this way. Also, the redesigned sport-utility-vehicle come as Cadillac, GM’s premium brand posts huge sales gains.
Year-to-date sales are up 38 percent – the best month in the brand’s history since 1976, making the 110-year old brand the fastest growing major automotive brand in the U.S.
“Cadillac is back.” said Bob Ferguson, vice president, Global Cadillac. “Our growth is product-driven, new luxury vehicles with dramatic design and performance drawing new customers to showrooms.”
Expect the fourth generation SUV to offered with rear- or all-wheel drive, six speed automatic transmission as standard but later it its lifetime, an eight-speed automatic will replace it.
Price: Not announced yet of course, but we expect a healthy increase from today’s $64,165.
