The North American based automaker Chevrolet has released more details with the brand new 2014 Corvette Stingray.
After releasing the configurator and then announcing its official starting price, not too long ago, the new generation of the Chevrolet Corvette, the 2014 model year, is being placed into the spotlights once again, this time with the carmaker releasing new details on it. The 2014 Corvette Stingray is weighing 3,298 lbs without the Z51 package, and this is actually 90 lbs more than the C6. This is quite strange, considering the fact that vehicles are becoming lighter and more fuel efficient with every new generation, these days.
Chevy says that the new Corvette generation has lighter frame, body panels, control arms and hatch than the ones used on the C6, but the extra weight is coming from the larger braking system, strengthened differential, new technologies applied in the cabin and upgraded seats. The Z51 package will add between 150 lbs and 200 lbs on the C7, compared to the 450 HP and 450 lb-ft of the standard version. Prices for the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray have been set at 51,995 USD, in the United States, but the model is still a few months away from its production start.
