The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 has been officially presented to the public, in a world premiere, during the 2014 NAIAS, in Detroit.
The model in question has received a carbon fiber aero package with a front splitter, a larger rear spoiler and rocker package. Choose the Z07 package and the Z06 will receive the see-through center section on the rear spoiler, bigger winglets, Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup tires, carbon ceramic-matrix brakes and some other tweaks. The Z07 kit will provide the model with the most aerodynamic downforce of any production vehicle ever made by General Motors.
“The new Z06 delivers levels of performance, technology and design that rival the most exotic supercars in the world. And the Z06 leverages the engineering expertise of GM, offering the choice of two world-class transmissions, supercar performance without supercar fuel consumption, and technologies that make it easier to fully enjoy the incredible experience of driving it” said the GM North America president, Mark Reuss.
The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette is taking its power from a 6.2 liter LT4 supercharged V8 engine, which has been equipped with a 1.7 liter Eaton supercharger and an intercooler. According to the car manufacturer, the unit is capable of producing at least 625 HP (466 kW) and 861 Nm (635 lb-ft) of torque, which are being sent to the wheels through a seven-speed manual transmission or through the new eight-speed automatic transmission. The new Corvette Z06 is riding on 19-/20-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in 285/30 and 335/25 tires, front to rear. The model in question will go on sale next year and its pricing will be announced close to its launch date.
