The brand new 2015 Subaru WRX STI has been officially unveiled in Detroit, putting a stop to rumors and leaked images with it.
The Japanese based automaker Subaru has officially pulled the wraps off the brand new WRX STI during the 2014 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. The model in question is wearing the 2015 model year in its name meaning that it will become available for order later on this year. The 2015 Subaru WRX STI has a bold body kit, with a massive rear wing. The carmaker is planning to introduce a Launch Edition, limited to 1,000 units, which will be offered with the WR Blue paint and the gold BBS wheels, along with some other goodies.
Power to the brand new Subaru WRX STI is being provided by a 2.5 liter four-cylinder turbocharged boxer engine. The unit is developing a total output of 305 HP (227 kW), at 6,000 rpm, and it has a peak torque of 393 Nm (290 lb-ft), available at 4,000 rpm. Power is being sent to the symmetrical all-wheel drive system through an updated 6-speed manual transmission. The new WRX STI has summer performance tires on the 18-inch alloy wheels, 245/40 in size, along with an inverted-strut front suspension, in order to improve handling. No extra details on the model have been announced yet.
