Bentley has officially unveiled the new Continental GT V8 S during the 2014 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), in Detroit.
Bentley has chosen the 2014th edition of the Detroit Motor Show in order to pull the wraps off the Continental GT V8 S. The model in question has been already unveiled during the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, back in September, so this is anything but a premiere. Even so, this is a good image exercise for the luxury carmaker and the vehicle represents a step up from the GT V8 in terms of performance, being expected to become popular in its new market.
The Bentley Continental GT V8 S is taking its power from a 4.0 liter turbocharged V8 engine. The unit is producing a total output of 521 HP and it has a peak torque of 680 Nm (502 lb-ft). This represents a 27 HP and 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) increase over the standard Continental GT V8. Power is being sent to the 20-inch wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration is done in just 4.5 seconds and the luxurious vehicle can reach a top speed of 309 km/h (192 mph).
