The Toyota FT-1 Concept has been officially unveiled during the 2014 Detroit Motor Show (NAIAS).
The model in question looks futuristic just like the Japanese based automaker has gotten us used to and the only vehicle I have in my mind right now is the stunning LF-LC. The Toyota FT-1 has been in development in the last two years and the project was conducted by Calty Design. Its front-engined rear-wheel drive vehicle has 2000GT inspired side glass openings, a wraparound windshield, an F1-like steering wheel, a muscular body and a very aggressive stance.
“This provocative concept truly captures the passion, excitement, and energy of the Toyota we are evolving into and embodies elements of the emotion and performance that Toyota will imprint upon future production designs”, said the Calty Design Research president, Kevin Hunter.
The A-pillars of the FT-1 Concept have been moved back and the cockpit has a very minimalistic design, adding a color head-up display. Sadly the creators of this one-off vehicle declined to go into specifics when it comes to its performance, but don’t think that this is the last time when you will see it because it will become available in the virtual environment, as downloadable content for Gran Turismo 6. The Toyota FT-1 Concept might serve as a preview for the successor of the iconic Supra.
