The North American based automaker Ford has recently announced the first details on the 2014 Fusion equipped with the 1.5L EcoBoost engine.
The first details on the 2014 Ford Fusion, powered by a 1.5 liter EcoBoost engine, have been recently announced by the carmaker. According to the company, future owners or drivers of the 2014 Fusion equipped by the 1.5 L EcoBoost unit will not be able to spot the difference between that and the 1.6 liter engine.
“Most people will not be able to tell the difference between the 1.6-liter engine and the new 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine”, said the Ford vice president of powertrain engineering, Joe Bakaj.
The new 1.5 liter EcoBoost engine, which will power the 2014 Ford Fusion (Mondeo as it is known in Europe) is derived from the 1.0 liter EcoBoost I-3 from the 2014 Fiesta. The unit will warm up faster thanks to the reduced cold-start emissions and it will deliver more responsiveness. The 1.5 L EcoBoost I-4 will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Additional details on the engine equipping the 2014 Ford Fusion are limited for the moment and will probably be announced over the following weeks.
