Plans by Ford Motor Company could see its new Start model become its ‘Global Car’ as early as 2014.
Concept car Ford Start could go on sale in 2014 initially in emerging markets such as China, India and South America but eventually around the world, including Europe.
Autocar.co.uk reports that Ford could be working on a production vrsion of the Start, with the vehicle being scheduled to enter the market in 2014 and come with a price of around $13,000.
The Ford Start Concept is powered by a 1.0L 3-cylinder EcoBoost engine that delivers power and torque comparable to a normally-aspirated I-4 powerplant. As of yet, Ford has not confirmed that it will do a 3-cylinder EcoBoost.
The 2014 Ford Start will be built on an aluminum and steel chassis, with a lightweight aluminum safety cell.
