2014 Geneva Motor Show LIVE: AC Schnitzer BMW X5 image

The third generation of the big BMW X5 SUV already has almost a year on its dashboard, so it’s only natural that AC Schnitzer had time to thoroughly prepare its aftermarket package for the US made Bavarian SAV.

The Aachen-based tuning engineers worked out the exterior design and aerodynamics aspect by putting a new front and rear skirt, with integrated rear diffuser, which improve the air flow passing around the body and enhance the X5’s dynamic aspect.

The interior modifications show a more restrained style, with aluminum pedals, matching floor mats and the AC Schnitzer key holder. The wheels come in sizes that range from 20 to 22 inches and various designs, while the tuner also has on offer a sports suspension lowering kit that lowers the X5 by 30 mm in front and 20 mm in the rear.

While many tuners focus on raw power and thus endanger the engine’s life span, AC Schnitzer is a more torque kind of upgrader, also offering additional warranty for the modifications. For the Geneva venue, the Aachen company had the X5 M50d go from the usual 381 hp all the way to 430 hp, while the X5 50i jumps the gun from 450 hp to 525 hp.
